The Val di Fassa offers a large number of climbing routes all over the Dolomites

To manage this type of hiking the mountain guides of Canazei can provide useful information or accompany you on your first approach with the rock

For the most expert explorers the Val di Fassa offers a large number of prepared routes (commonly called "ferrate"), which, with the help of suitable equipment (harnesses, ropes, clamps and helmets), allow you to reach even inaccessible places in absolute safety, with techniques that bring you close to real climbing. Before setting off on this type of outing, as well as being reasonably fit, you will need to have a good knowledge of the area and its climate and weather conditions. We therefore advise that you go to the Alpine Guides, who will simply be able to give you useful information, take you to the approaches to the rocks or even accompany you on a real climb, where, once you have reached the summit, the feeling of "mastery" is absolute.

The resort Canazei in Val di Fassa has many trails and climbing routes that deserve to be explored:

SELLA GROUP: Via Ferrata Mesules/Piz Selva
CHARACTERISTICS: the ferrata turns out to be difficult and exposed with a hard key point in the first part. The second part is a lot less challenging. The ferrata to the Piz Selva lasts 3.00 h, the descent on a traditional path until you get to the asphalt road takes approximately 3.30 h. Ca. 700 m difference in level from Passo Sella to Piz Selva. Excellent starting point: Passo Sella.
ACCESS TO THE FERRATA: start from the parking lot at Passo Sella (2240 mt), at the beginning of the path (n. 649) that leaves the road of the pass to the left, a few dozen meters before the Hotel Maria Flora coming from Val Gardena where a first sign indicates the exact direction. Approach the west side of the Sella, cross slightly uphill at the base of the Torri del Sella, initially on grassland then step on debris and in about 30 minutes you will reach the start of the route (2290 m).

Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina/Torre Exner
CHARACTERISTICS: the ferrata turns out to be moderately difficult with some challenging passages in the last tract that could be avoided in any case. Ascent 2.45 h if not crowded, descent 1.30 h. Difference in level: 600 m, 400 m only the ferrata. Starting points: Rifugio Franco Cavazza, Colfosco, Passo Gardena.
ACCESS TO THE FERRATA: you head towards east or left, looking at the walls of the Sella, initially on flat trail and gravel then, approaching the wall, between pines you reach the first equipment -15'- representing a first start of the route although probably not yet the official.
